| In 1944, the 2nd Armored Division comprised of the 66th, 67th and 41st Armored Regiments. The division landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy France on D+3 (D-Day plus 3 days) to strengthen the Auville-sur-le-Vey bridgehead. Previously, the division had served in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. The M-1941 Jacket pictured above was owned by a member of the 2nd Armored Division. This jacket is unmarked and does not have the original manufacturers nomenclature tag. The 2nd Armored Division patch is machine sewn to the jacket and has a raw cut edge, bordered in olive drab. The jacket shows considerable wear with many period repairs. The original history of the owner and this jacket is currently unknown. |
