This is where 1st Lt. Buckley A. Maynard piloted C-47A 43-15137 during the invasion of Normandy France on June 5th/6th
1944 and again during the invasion of Holland on September 17th 1944.
Note that most of the original gages and the autopilot have been removed.

The cockpit section was cut in the middle of the Navigator and
Radio Operator position, just forward of the cargo area.

The left bulkhead is the front section of the Navigator's position.
This is where 2nd Lt. Donald J. Markey sat during the invasion of
Normandy France June 5th/6th 1944 and where 2nd Lt. Robert D.
Marrington sat during the invasion of Holland September 17th
1944.

The right bulkhead is the front section of the Radio Operator's
position. This is where Sgt. Vernon F. Coss sat during the
invasion of Normandy France June 5th/6th 1944 and where Cpl.
Joseph J. Calder sat during the invasion of Holland September
17th 1944.
Type A-3A Aircraft Automatic Pilot, above three photos.
The A-3A Automatic Pilot was mounted in the instrument panel between the pilot and co-pilot on the C-47. The A-3A
comprised of two components. The right instrument is the CONTROL, BANK-CLIMB GYRO. This instrument was made for the
UNITED STATES NAVY, STOCK NO. R88-U-120, ORDER NO. 4793, SERIAL NUMBER 45-N 268. It was made by JACK &
HEINTZ, INC. CLEVELAND, OHIO. The A-3A was supplied to both the Army Air Force and the Navy.
The left instrument is the CONTROL, DIRECTIONAL GYRO. This instrument was made under SPEC. NO. 94-27978, ORDER
NO. W33-038-AC-4341, SER. NO. AF 7156. It was made by JACK & HEINTZ, INC. CLEVELAND, OHIO.
Both of these instruments will be used in the restoration of C-47A 43-15137
