German Luftwaffe Tropical Belt and Buckle, above three photos. The 1938 pattern silver washed, injection molded, aluminum buckle is marked with the manufacturer’s initials: "R S & S" for manufacture by Richard Sieper & Söhne of Lüdenscheid. The leather tab is marked "R. Sieper & Söhne Lüdenscheid 1937". The leather tab is also marked: "LBA" (Luftwaffen Bekleidungs Amt: Air-Force Clothing Depot) as well as "Stab" (Staff) "Fla. Schule" (Flak: Anti-aircraft, Schule: School). The tropical belt is constructed from khaki/green canvas with a steel buckle catch on one end. The buckle retaining tongue is made from brown leather. |
German Luftwaffe Tropical Belt and Buckle with Mauser K-98 Ammunition Pouches, above photo. The tropical belt is constructed from khaki/green canvas with a steel buckle catch on one end and is marked 0/0684/0005 which is a RB number (Reichs Betriebnummer - National Factory Code Number) which indicates manufacture after late 1942 and is marked with the size 85. The Mauser K-98 Ammunition Pouches are the early style, constructed from natural brown pebble grain leather with aluminum hardware with belt loops that fold under the pouches and attach to the closure studs. The pouch on the wearers left is marked on the reverse: WILHELM HANSEN & BRAUN, SONNGEN 1936. The inside of the center pouch lid is ink stamped: B SM35. The pouch on the wearers right is marked on the reverse: maker unreadable, BERLIN 1935. The reverse is hand marked with the number 195 in black paint. The center pouch lid is ink stamped, but unreadable. |
